Who Am I?
My name is Maggie Bruce, I am a graduate student from Charlotte NC, attending Appalachian State. I majored in Elementary Education. I am receiving my Masters in Reading Education. I hope to teach 3rd grade one day and stay in the mountains for my career. I love the outdoors and going on adventures on the parkway with my friends. I have always know I wanted to be a teacher and have such a passion for children. Their imaginations and creativity amazes and inspires me everyday.
Reading is something I always struggled with in school. I see the immense importance and richness reading brings to a child's life. Therefore, I want to become the best teacher and advocate for reading I can be.

My Name Story
I was born Margaret Bruce, named after my godmother and my moms best friend Margaret. I was supposed to go by Margaret. Quickly my parents realized Margaret did not really suit me. I was more of a Maggie. I feel more like a Maggie and wear this nickname with pride.
My middle name, Gunning, is another aspect of my name I find prideful. This family name has been passed down for generations. It was my grandfathers middle name who I was never able to meet. But sharing this name with him has always made me feel close to him.
